It was a big decision for me to choose the Highlands as my holiday destination last year. Ever since I turned 17, I’ve always chosen a summer beach holiday in Europe, but I wanted something a little bit different. I wanted more adventure. I can’t say Scotland didn’t let me down on that front, but perhaps I should have taken the local prices into account. I’ve never spent so much money on a holiday in the UK before, and I felt as though I was eating out in central London at times! I must have spent well over £1,000 in the space of a week, and the only excursions we did were free! Accommodation is ludicrously expensive and there isn’t an awful lot to do. When you’ve seen one mountain, the others don’t really bring anything to the party. I now know I’m made for beach holidays, strictly warm sunny beach holidays!
