Travel insurance for a staycation in the UK

Many individuals do not believe that travel insurance is required when organising a staycation. Similar to planning a trip abroad, it’s still worth taking into account.

Although you won’t have to worry about medical costs because you can access free NHS care if you become sick or hurt while you’re away, a travel insurance policy won’t only pay out for medical emergencies. You could still want insurance even if you’re staying home on holiday in case of cancellation, delays, or loss, theft, or damage to your belongings.

Keep in mind, though, that some policies have minimum distances or number of nights required before they’ll pay for a staycation.

A typical policy can include coverage for airline and transportation delays. To get to your location, you could need to take a domestic flight, train trip, ferry crossing, or coach.

Costs associated with a holiday cancellation or curtailment may also be recovered.
